I was offline last week and in sunny Scottsdale for a wedding but now I'm back! Our friend Brad, a.k.a - the matchmaker who set Dave and I up, made his "I-do's" with the lovely Julie. The wind was blowing fiercely that day and everyone said it was Julie's mom sending messages from heaven. She died of complications following a liver transplant about five years ago. So I sit here today being thankful for the 11 pills that I just swallowed and the fact that I've got another day here because I'm living with transplant. I'm living now more than ever. This weekend the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois is reaching out to all transplant recipients and hosting a patient education day for those living with an organ transplant. Families and all organ types are welcome. I've talked to others who have attended this event and it sounds very informative and beneficial. If you've had a transplant but have never hung out with others who have also received the gift of life - do it! As I've said before, we are all connected in a very special way and are part of an elite club. We won the lottery. You'll be inspired and won't be alone. In the past attendance was over 300 patients and family members. Hugs will be had and are free.
